CLM Advisors Commissioned to Study Emergence of Online Jury Research Tools
in the Claims and Litigation Industries

New York, NY
— CLM Advisors has been commissioned by LookingGlass, a leading provider of online jury research, to study the use of online jury research technologies in the claims and litigation management industries. The study will explore claims and litigation executives’ perceptions of this emerging service area, and will identify the market’s current understanding of these technologies, the current utilization rates for jury research generally, the challenges and opportunities that executives face in considering its use.

The study will be authored by CLM Advisor James L. Briggs. Briggs has served as the Vice President of Operations and Systems for AIG/Chartis, and was previously head of E-business Strategy for Aetna and director of Production Operations for Nielsen Media Research.

“This is a very interesting area of focus for CLM Advisors,” says Briggs. “We are very focused on quantifying the level of industry awareness and knowledge about tools that can improve litigation outcomes. Unlike traditional jury research, these online research modalities may not just be for trial preparation, as they can also be used cost-effectively to prepare for arbitrations and mediations, to evaluate witnesses, understand jurisdictional trends, theories of liability and to quantify damages. We are interested in understanding how and when this business intelligence can be integrated into the claims process to manage litigation risks and expenses. ”

“We are very focused on understanding the needs and challenges of corporations as they work to predict litigation risks and value,” says Sharon Shofner-Meyer, president and general manager of LookingGlass. “While we have experienced rapid growth in the law firm and the jury consulting communities, we are also focused on providing solutions that meet the needs of corporate executives. This study will provide us with the transparency and information necessary to do that.”

To participate in the Study, for more information or to request a copy of the findings, contact Taylor Smith, president of CLM Advisors at taylor.smith@theclm.org.

CLM Advisors to Study Talent Crisis in Claims and Litigation Management Industries

New York, NY — CLM Advisors has been commissioned by the Claims and Litigation Management (CLM) Alliance to conduct an industry-wide study on the talent crisis in the claims and litigation management industries. The Study will examine industry executives’ perceptions of current talent pool trends, contrast those perceptions to publicly available labor statistics, and highlight best practices for attracting and retaining the industry’s best talent.

The Study, believed to be the most comprehensive analysis of this issue, will be co-authored by CLM Advisors Laura McGough and Patricia Kirschling. McGough was most recently vice president of Invoice Operations for Zurich Insurance. Kirschling was most recently chief claims officer for American Safety Insurance Company.

“There’s been a feeling for quite some time now that the young talent pool of professionals in the claims and litigation management industries is drying up,” says McGough. “Through this study, we plan to identify the reality of the current situation and the prognosis for the future.”

Kirschling adds, “In order to thrive as an industry and a profession, we need to identify best practices for attracting a new generation to the exciting careers available in claims and litigation management — even starting at the college level. We intend for this study to be the first step toward accomplishing that goal.”

To participate in the Study, for more information or to request a copy of the findings, contact Taylor Smith, President of CLM Advisors at taylor.smith@theclm.org.
